Scaffolds were created to ensure the safety of one or more workers, and for those who will be working in very high places, these precautionary structures are an absolute necessity. They must be present during all scenarios when work is underway, otherwise workers could fall and suffer a serious injury. In order to keep workers where they need to be, scaffolds consist of frames and planks connected by various types of joints. How a scaffold is constructed depends upon its intended use and there is a scaffolding system available for just about any kind of job.
In order to work properly and ensure the safety of workers who use them; scaffolds must be set up correctly. Anyone who plans to work at heights exceeding 12 feet must be properly trained about using scaffolds. If workers have not obtained safety certificates, using scaffolding may put them at more risk and do more harm than good. If security protocol is not strictly followed, the scaffolds themselves pose a risk. Obviously, not being properly trained completely negates using scaffolding as a safety measure in the first place. It is therefore not recommended that anyone who has not been properly educated about working on high actually do so.
