Buckhead condominiums currently on the market can be divided into three main categories: pre-war, post-war and new construction and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Pre-War
The advantages for these condos is that they were built before World War II are many and there is a huge demand for them.
The main reason for their popularity is their old-world character and style. This means that they have high ceilings, crown moldings, arched doorways and hardwood floors. They usually come with thicker firewalls between apartments which gives a safer and quieter home. A disadvantage is fewer amenities than post-war and contemporary condominiums.
Post-War
Buckhead condominiums were built in Georgia between the 1940’s and the mid 1970’s. These condominiums have been expertly renovated to make them the equal to any of the new condos. The main difference is the architectural style, which means that the post-war buildings do not have the contemporary appearance of newly built apartment blocks.
Renovated
Most post-war Buckhead condominiums have been renovated to provide homes that rival the state of the art, new construction condominiums. This means the best post-war condos for sale have the full range of amenities such as pools, new appliances, housekeeping, valet service, gyms, rooftop leisure areas and pools.
Another advantage of these condominiums include more living space and lower running costs compared to pre-war condos.
New Construction
New construction is buildings that sprang up between the late 1990’s and today. These residences are almost like little villages. They offer everything you could think of.
Basketball courts
During the boom of the last 10 years, the architects and construction companies competed over who could offer the best package of amenities. So this is why you will find condos that have pet grooming spas, golf simulators and even full-size basketball courts. They also have excellent energy efficiency, even though they have high ceilings and enormous windows they have beautiful kitchens and luxurious bathrooms.
Air pollution
Atlanta seems to have a way to reduce air pollution by encouraging the residents to use public transportation for work and journeys in and out of the city.
This means that condos in Georgia offer the one amenity lacking for New York City condominiums residents – clean street air.
